OpsBR stands for “Operations Bar Raiser.” Bar Raiser is a term used by Amazon and it is a role for their hiring process who raise their hiring bar. OpsBR applies the same concept to operations, which means that OpsBR is a role for operations to raise its bar.
Amazon’s Bar Raiser is typically an outsider person who doesn’t know any implicit knowledge in the hiring team. Thus, BR has less bias than the team members and can evaluate the candidate just following the fundamental principals. Such unbiased opinion is significantly important to hire the best person.
The same concept can be applied to “Operations Bar Raiser” as well. By listening to unbiased opinion from a third party person (OpsBR), your operations would be better.
